GROUP RIDES TIPS
New to riding in a group?
Here are some guidelines to ensure a safe group ride!

- Maintain a one-half wheel-diameter distance from the wheel in front of you at all times, avoiding any overlap of wheels. Pay close attention to changes in the road grade and adjust your pace accordingly.
- When riding two abreast or passing another rider, ensure there is a minimum 12” gap between your handlebars and the handlebars of the rider next to you.
- Avoid making sudden changes in your pace or hitting your brakes abruptly. If you need to alter your speed or direction, always check your surroundings first and use clear signals to communicate your intentions.
- Passing on the right is not permitted, unless you announce your intention clearly beforehand.
- Alert fellow riders to significant obstacles in the upcoming path, such as potholes or debris. However, do not swerve at the last moment to avoid them, as this could endanger others in the group.
- In case of a flat tire, inform the group so they are aware that you will be slowing down.
- Aero bars are not allowed during group rides.
- It is prohibited to use earbuds while riding, and never answer your phone during the ride.
- If you notice other riders engaging in unsafe cycling behavior, politely remind them of the guidelines.
- If you are uncomfortable riding closely within a group, it’s best to avoid the back position and find a position that suits your comfort level.
